Nice pic. Why is instragram cheating? just takes the "talent" away from taking a picture. it's usually a bunch of assholes taking stupid camera phone pictures, slapping some filters on it and thinking they're photographers. no sir. but the original was lame, so i cheated. I need a new camera. medium/large format please.

Morten, your camera is fucking immense. The SOIA pics are crazy good. I usually take pics with a Canon 500 with a couple of different lenses, but when I got to B&H Photo in New York I convinced myself that I needed a new camera for gigs and as a backup for the SLR. My old one is a Leica digilux 1 that only shoots jpeg. I bought the new Sony RX100, which is a point and shoot camera but is shoots in raw and has 20.2 megapixels. That's the camera I used to take the SOIA pics and to record the video of SOIA and CIV that's in the other thread. I love the camera and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a camera that can take great pics and record HD video without carrying around a SLR.

if anyone will appreciate this, i'll be Mr. Bickle over here. I just got this bad boy, and can't wait to take him for a spin.

That's one great looking camera! I've never tried to shoot on film, and I don't know much about it. Can you process it yourself?

i know how to process 35mm, but haven't done it in years. that bad boy is 120mm. while i'm fairly certain the mechanics are similar....i don't have access to a darkroom or chemicals. there's a place close to my work that will process and make contact sheets for me. so i can at least see how they come out. then order prints accordingly.
or i'll just cheat and scan the contact sheet and a ridiculous dpi and blow it up from there.

i shot a roll of black and white and a roll of color yesterday. not expecting much, as it's a new camera and i had to get familiar with it. that said it was easier than i thought. i'm hoping i got some decent stuff. just bummed around NYC. took some shots of time square and rockerfeller plaza. should be interesting with the christmas lights up and such. here's hoping anyway.

To answer your question, i paid about $450 for that one (used, from B&H). retailed for around $700 so i'll take that discount. haha. You could always get a digital back for it too....but those cost like 7grand.

I love B&H. I was in NY for two weeks and I was in there five times. I got a camera backpack there for 1/3 of the price in Oslo. They have so much cool stuff, and on top of that the shop in itself is worth the visit. Never seen anything quite like it. I've also ordered some stuff online from them, and with shipping and taxes it was still half price of buying it over here.

i just found a local shop near me. nowhere near the selection, but they're ridiculously nice there. somewhat cheaper than the place i was initially planning to have process my film. will have my color prints back by saturday (will share the good ones...hopefully they exist), and the black and whites a week from saturday.
