www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSyhDbV9wHoThat's some smooth moves. Going to Hamburg this weekend and got tickets for HSV - Hoffenheim so I am studying this video to fit in with the locals. Anyone have any experience with being in the away end at Bundesliga games? Do they hold back the supporters after the game? I have to go straight to a pub to watch Fulham - Liverpool afterwards so if we get held back that will ruin my carefully planned timetable.

Hahahah Jesus christ, that is my new favourite video. My god, Duisburg were given the gay pride flag. Reminds me of this actually: www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4u1QQLVWyw&fmt=18I've been to Oberhausen, Aachen and Bochum away with Duisburg and stood with Eintracht Frankfurt fans against Leverkusen. They just keep you seperated that's all, ie wall of police in riot gear/on horses and vans across the road and use alternate exiting routes from the stadium, sending you to different stations on different lines. Either that or they will have busses waiting for you directly outside the exit to whisk the away fans to the train station so as to avoiud them causing any problems. The former is probably the more likely situation with Hamburg v Hoffenheim.

I know most HSV fans are a bunch of pooncy fashionistas, but Morten you might cop more heat than you otherwise would in the Hoffenheim away end simply because of their assocation with Dietmar Hopp.
I reckon there's a slight chance of you being held back (I have been, at Leverkusen - Dortmund) because the polizei might not want the HSV hardcores to get anywhere near the Hoffenheim "support."

The only way to get tickets was to buy in the away end. I have no idea what kind of away support, if any, Hoffenheim brings. But maybe I should drop the St. Pauli scarf at home Do you know if they sell alcohol in the away end in Germany? A mate of mine said they didn't, but it turned out he was at a Champions League game and I suppose there's different rules in CL and in the Bundesliga.

Hi Morten, going back a few years now, I've been in the away end with HSV on numerous occasions, Bochum, Dortmund, Gladbach and Shalke and never had any problems with being kept behind, fireworks being shot at, but no time delays. Enjoy.

With drinking it's always different. In Bochum I could, but against Leverkusen we couldn't. Likewise in the 2.liga, in Oberhausen we could drink, but against Aachen we couldn't.
In other news, I'm off to Rome on the Easter weekend for the stab-fest that is AS Roma v SS Lazio. Lazio home game standing with Roman Ultras. Going to be good times all 'round I think.

I was pretty impressed by Hoffenheims away support when we got to the stadium. The away section was pretty packed, but only the people up front were singing. I found out why when HSV scored. About 2/3 of the people there were HSV supporters. It wasn't the best of games but I had fun. I made it to a pub in good time to watch Liverpool too. Have fun in Rome Estes. I hope I get the chance to go to a Serie A game soon. And on the subject of stab-fests. Look at the somewhat strange new piece of club merch I picked up at the opening game this season : There's not much trouble at our games, but selling £2 knives with the club logo at the stadium before and after games seem a little strange to me. I had to buy one before they get banned

Fuck me the game was nuts, a friend of mine put me in touch with one of the ultras groups in the Curva Sud who got me and the nephew into the game throught the age old tradition of bribery.
6 goals, 3 in the first 10 mins and 3 red cards, thousands of chances and fights all around the place. The coolest part was seeing all the ultras rock up to the game with several 6-packs of 1,5l water bottles to donate to the earthquake victims. The minutes silence was the best kept I have ever experienced.
I have a lazio flag pole souvenir too.
Will chuck some photos up when I get home tomorrow.
