On groezrock earlier this year Lou did wear an 'I love boobies' T-shirt to support keep-a-breast foundation.
I felt a bit emotional when my favorite band supports this, because my mom has breast cancer.
She has this for almost six years. But when they discovered it, it was already spreaded over her body(bones and ribs).
She got medicines to stop the tumor from growing and she reacted very well at this treatment.
Last year they discover spots on her liver and got chemotherapy, not to cure, but to extend her life. And again, she reacted well on this therapy. Her tumor marker in her blood dropped from 3500 to 700(this should be lower than 30 for a normal person).
She amazed a lot of doctors because she's still around(they thought 6 years ago it only was a matter of months), but not for long.
Three weeks ago the marker raised to 4500 and they started with a new chemotherapy, the one of the last hope.
If this works, her life is extended again for some time, if not, it'll be a matter of weeks.
She's the greatest mom.. she and my dad worked very hard to let me do the studies I wanted to do. I have nice job thanks to them.
She learned me not to be selfish and I tried never to let her down, because she's so great.
Past few years we gave her back what she always wanted and had to wait for a long time: grandchildren. She's so proud!
I hope we can keep her for some time.
So this is my story about breast cancer.
Although my mom did a checkup every year, they didn't discover it in time.
My advise to the ladies...check your boobies. It's a common disease that can be treated very well when discovered in an early stage.
Thanks again to Lou and the band to support this cause.
