Anybody seen the new Mel Gibson film "Apocalypto"? I'm not sure about these mel Gibson films. I think they might be a bit shit. Maybe I'll look at Apocalypto but i'm never going to watch the Passion Of Christ. It sounds shite!

It's impossible to overdo violence on screen. We're not impressed by violence anymore. So if a violent scene is shaking ya, it means it's well done. Not overdone. You're supposed to give a shit about violence.
And Reservoir Dogs were incredible. That scene was indeed hard to watch. I also read a story about how the film was made. If it wasn't for Harvey Keitel, it wouldn've been made at all. Thanks to Harvey they got some budget, but still it was so little that they had to use the same car in all car scenes. And that car belonged to one of the actors, can't remember which.

I like Gibson's films. Braveheart was good, and I thought the The Passion Of The Christ was superb. The violence was graphic and sustained, but nobody said crucifixion was family viewing! As for the ear-cutting scene in Reservoir Dogs, it was just a shame that he didn't get to roast the pig before he got shot. A.C.A.B.

Why should I watch The Passion Of Christ then? Go-on convince me! All I'll say is that it was the best historical film I've seen purely due to the attention to detail, and even the fact that it was shot in two dead languages! It also shows the true gruesome reality of a crucifixion (and the torture ahead of it), as far as anyone can know in this day and age. Anyway, you can also watch it without fear of a sudden religious conversion, assuming that you aren't already in the grip of the brain-washing bullshit, because I haven't started going to church! Just watch it!

I don't normally like subtitled stuff, but some of Takeshi Katana's movies, Hana-bi, Sonatene (sorry about the spelling, if it's wrong), Violent Cop, excellent movies, well put together, beautifully shot, and brutal. I forgot I was reading. Well worth a watch.
On a completely different tack, saw Lost in Translation last night. Really good, and, I'm pleased to say, restored my faith in Bill Murray after the last couple of his I saw.
